Our Open-Source Payback Pledge
Declarative Technologies runs on the shoulders of thousands of volunteer developers. To keep that ecosystem healthy, we put our money where our repo is: 5% of every dollar we invoice, gross (not net), is redistributed to the open-source projects that power our stack.
- We publish a ledger on the first business day of each month so you can see exactly who got paid and how much
- Distribution is weighted by how much of their code we ship, plus a boost for projects with thin funding. Details (and the script) live in our private repo
- Most companies throw 1-2% at open source – if anything. We’re committing to more because we’d rather fund maintainers than patch the mess when they burn out
Building on free software is a privilege; kicking 5% back is the minimum rent we can pay for that privilege
Freedom Without Lock-in
We build systems you own. Not rent, not lease… OWN. Everything we ship is under strong copyleft licenses, meaning you’re free to cancel your subscription, keep the code, and keep running your stack without interference.
No kill switches. No license checks. No bullcrap.
The subscription isn’t about locking you in, it’s how we fund active development, urgent patches, and proper support. But we’ll never coerce you into paying. If our work is valuable, we trust you’ll stick around. If not, you walk away with your freedom intact.
That’s not a loophole, it’s the entire point of creating this platform.
